John Havlicek was recently honored at the Boston Celtics last home game of the 2014-15 season for the 50th anniversary of the legendary “Havlicek Stole the Ball” play.
Three generations of the Havlicek family recently attended a Baltimore Orioles – St. Louis Cardinals game where they enjoyed America’s number one pastime and had a chance to do a meet and greet with the team.
John Havlicek visits the Celtics at their practice room to give some advice. Havlicek is known often to stop by and give the team some perspective, as he most famously gave to Ray Allen when looking back on his 1969 game against the Lakers, offering the advice to “fight and claw back to get back to 2-2, to even.” Though he never took up the position of coaching, he has remained active in trying to impart his views on the game and what it takes to win.

With a total of 26,395 points scored, Havlicek, along with the Celtics, would win eight championships. New York Knicks coach Red Holzman described him by saying, “On stamina alone, he’d be among the top players who ever played the game.”
