Chris Havlicek, is an active member of his community. He is on the board of several organizations and is involved with the Orange Bowl Committee, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and School, the Everglades Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs, the Jason Taylor Reading Room and like his father, the Genesis Foundation for Children.
Both John and son Chris are active and proud supporters of the Genesis Foundation and are both on the board. For the past 33 years, John has hosted the John Havlicek Celebrity Fishing Tournament along with the Genesis Foundation’s Board of Directors. The event has raised millions for the organization over the past three decades. Sports figures and other celebrities, like Celtics coach Brad Stevens and former MLB players Carlton Fisk and Jim Lonborg. The event takes place over a long weekend and includes fishing, gold and tennis tournaments along with a live auction and comedy shows. “I am proud to have established the John Havlicek Celebrity Fishing Tournament, benefiting the Genesis Foundation for Children. For the past 33 years we have raised millions of dollars for children born with birth defects and genetic abnormalities. Hopefully the funds we have raised for their care and treatment will have made meaningful differences in the patient’s lives and their families. I am very proud to be associated with the Genesis Foundation for children,” John Havlicek said.
John and Chris also share some of the same hobbies. Both are passionate about fishing. Whether it’s fly fishing in Florida or fishing for bluefish off the coast of Massachusetts, the activity puts both men at ease.
