“Pistol” Pete Maravich, an NBA star and youngest player to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, died in 1988 at the age of 40. Maravich played for the Atlanta Hawks, the New Orleans and Utah Jazz and the Boston Celtics. John Havlicek once said Maravich was “the best ball-handler of all time.” He passed away at such a young age, but he will always be remembered as one the NBA’s greatest players.
