Havlicek Stole the Ball!

This is a part of the legendary call by Boston legend Johnny Most after NBA great John Havlicek stole an inbound pass that was being thrown by Hal Greer to Chet Parker; this play may seem minor to the average fan but the importance stems from the scene that was set. It was the final seconds in the 1965 Eastern Conference Finals between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers, the Celtics had their lead cut down to one and Philadelphia had possession after a pass by Bill Russell hit one of the wires that supported the baskets. Hall of Fame 76er guard Hal Greer attempted to inbound the ball to high scorer Chet Walker but John “Hondo” Havlicek was one step ahead of Chet and stepped in the passing lane just in time to intercept the pass and hand it to Sam Jones. The game was over and the Celtics went on to be crowned NBA Champions and John Havlicek went on to be a NBA Legend.
